During the eighteenth century, millions of people were taken from Africa and sold as slaves. Great Britain was the bigges slave trading country in Europe. William Wilberforce, a young government minister, spent his life working to end the slave trade. He and his followers spent twenty-five years persuading parliament- and the people of Britian - that the slave trade was wrong.
