Imagine 2 > is the second part of an English Course featuring fifteen young people of different tiolities bringing with them a message about Ecology. Within this setting. students develop genuine comrnunicative competence since language is used in a variety of real-life situations. In addition. there are origil and creative activities which involve the students and encourage them to participate in their own learning process. The topic and characters invite reflection about the traits of people of different cultures as well as one?s own. while at the same time creating an awareness of the issues being faced in regard to the environment. The course is aimed at Spanish-speaking teegers and young adults who are just beginning to learn English. This course, which complies strictly with guidelines established by the new curriculum for secondary schools drawn up by the Secretaría de Educación Pública, maintains a ba1ance throughout in the practice of the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, it contains specific sections to help the student develop the skil1s and strategies necessary for understanding authentic texts written in English. Imagine 2 > is designed for approximately 105 flfty-minute classes, making it perfectly suited to the school year .At the same time, it is f1exible enough to a1low the teacher to do all the suggested activities or to choose those he/she considers most appropriate to the particular neeeds and interests of the group. The book consists of three units. Each unit is divided into a number of lessons: unit I- 7 lessons, Unit II and III ? 6 lessons. The lessons contain activities and exercises for practicing the four skills.
