In recent years, our country has faced a daunting challenge: how to revamp the educational system, updating it to prepare students for a rapidly changing world. One troubling element that has lent urgency to this topic is Mexico's consistently poor performance on PISA exams, international measures of the academic level of fifteen-year-olds. This deficit could relate to the use of old-fashioned teaching methods that stress the importance of memorization and theoretical knowledge as opposed to practical, hands-on learning.

One of the characteristics of present-day society is its vast capacity to produce scientific and technological knowledge, requiring increasingly greater levels of human skill in order to process it. At the same time, the technology used to transmit this knowledge has evolved at a staggering rate. Pedagogues have therefore insisted that we update our educational model, prioritizing practical applications to problems over theory. It is hoped that such a shift will enable students to apply knowledge to the solution of concrete problems in an employment setting as well as in society at large.
