Chambers Key-Word Dictionary is for students who have already begun to learn English. It aims to help them learn more about words they already know, as well as to continue to expand their knowledge of vocabulary. The dictionary lists 3500 key vocabulary items, defining them in clear, full sentences that show how they are used grammatically. Learners who are in the early stages of learning a language need information presented in a clear, uncomplicated way. But short, one-or two-word definitions do not show how words are used, and coding or abbreviated labels are often passed over, since their meaning is not immediately understood.
