The twentieth century has produced some of the most innovative and memorable designs for religious architecture, which have since become architectural icons worldwide.áReligious buildings today have continued to influence the architectural mainstream and offer an outlet for a more unrestrained approach to form and space making. Unshackled by the more constrictive, functional nature of commercial buildings or private housing, architects are able to explore the architectonic representations of the spiritual, cultural and social themes embodied in sacred structures and their status within communities.áThe Modern era, a period of profound change, technological advancement and confluence of global influences, provides an inspirational framework to today´s newfound expression.
