As girls and boys you have grown up in the last year, so you are ready to work with all sorts of materials that will help you get to know yourself and your surroundings, to live in harmony with your family, your teachers and your classmates.
To achieve these goals, your book Science and Society 1 offers you activities that will help you to see yourself as a person with rights and duties. You will acquire the skill and confidence to get on in life, to feel at ease in different circumstances -at home, at school, in your local community- to gain the necessary competence to play a successful role in society.
Science and Society 1 are made up of five units, according to the five bimesters into which the school year is divided. Each unit contains four lessons which you can work with in combination whit your official textbook Conocimiento del Medio, as well as with other support materials chosen by your teacher.
Each unit ends with a page entitled Besides what I have learned; I am also able to... Here you have the opportunity of assessing your own work and being aware of your achievements and what you need to work harder at. It also helps you to acquire values such as honesty, responsibility, confidence and respect, since it is you who has to review your work and evaluate it. We hope that this book, as well as being useful for school, will allow you to enjoy the activities it contains. Learning, after all, should be fun too!
