The Spotligh on English Assessment system is an itegral part of the Spotligh on English program, designed to help nonnative English-speakers become more proficient in the English language. Separate Domains Assessments. The Separate Domains Assessments provide information about English proficiency for each student through all the units in this program. Additionally, the system includes a Pre-Assessment for initial assessment and a Post-Assessment for year-end evaluation. These results give teachers, administrator,s parents, and students a comprehensive overview of how the students are performing at different stages of the English-language acquisition process. Each Unit Assessment provides information on both general language development and specific skills in the areas of listening, reading, writing, and speakign. This information can be used to focus instruction where it will have the most impact. The Spotligh on English Assessments system allows teachers to group students for targeted and generalized instruction, inspector ongoing language development, adjust instruction based on students? needs and abilities, and reflect on student performance at the end of the year.
