The format of the American Inside Out Pre-intermediate Video is that of a New York cable television company, WNUZ. Four students have won places as interns at the television company for a year and we follow them through that period. The units contain a wide variety of genres and styles. There are documentaries, street interviews, mini-dramas, and expert interviews. These units can be divided into extension units and alternative units. Extension units develop and extend topics or reading texts in the Student?s Book. Alternative units offer a visual presentation of listening or reading texts in the Student?s Book. For these units the teacher may decide to use the activities from the Student?s Book only or may follow the video worksheets.
