If a good book is a good friend, as we have said before, then you are about to find another good friend in Orbit 3! > Once again, you will get to know various new ´friends´ during your English course: the characters in the lessons (a group of music students living in Guadalajara), the protagonists in the reader, Don Evaristo, Doña Almanda, Emily and her student colleague, as well as famous people from the world of the Arts, sporting personalities and, why not?, people from other times and places who appear in myths and legends, too. We hope that you have been enjoying learning and using English through the work in Orbit 1 and Orbit 2 >, and especially, seeing how people of your own age interact through this language, as they experience the kinds of situations that you also have to face in your own life. A large number of young people from different states of Mexico shared their opinions with us, and helped us to decide how to design the activities for you in the previous coursebooks, and we have done the same thing in the case of Orbit 3. >We hope you like the results! You and your classmates will, more and more, share the responsibility for the organization and success of the majority of the activities. We hope that this will stimulate you to go on learning in an active and creative way. We also hope you will spend more time doing research for your projects and reading as much as you can in English. This will be good preparation for your new activities next year, after you graduate from secondary school. You will soon have to be totally responsible for your work or further studies, and we hope you will take this opportunity to practice taking instructions and developing them independently to create results you can feel proud of! You will find that there are There Units, in Orbit 3 >, and that each Unit is divided into Five Modules. In turn, each Module has Five Lesson. In every Lesson There, you will, indeed, find instructions for a project to work on alone or with your classmates in small groups. And in every Lesson Five, you will find a new episode of Don Evaristo?s tales. We have included the tales for fun, and hope that you will read and enjoy them, and maybe see some interesting connections among people from different worlds, as you ´travel´ with them, through their stories! We really hope you enjoy this way of working and more than anything else, that you will find time to write to us, whether in English or in Spanish. This is really important for us, because you are the best person to give us suggestions to help us improve our textbooks for young people.
